They sure knew how to make trailers then! This trailer for the classic Hunchback Of Notre Dame (Yes, there was a version before Disneys!) cleverly just has one glimpse of Laughtons face, and the rest him hobbling along, chasing or getting chased, and drooling over Maureen OHara. (and who wouldnt!) this is quite excellently put together. Well done.

Classic Monster Movie; Okay Trailer
The Hunchback of Notre Dame has the distinction of having two adaptations that are both considered classics. The first, where Quasimodo is played by Lon Chaney, and this one, where he's played by Charles Laughton. Which is better? Well, that's up for debate, but let's put it this way: when it came time to make a plastic model of the guy, Aurora based their version on Lon Chaney. Anyway, the trailer is in good condition, the sound and picture are both good. The trailer itself isn't too bad; certainly not exciting, as it features more of the love-story angle of the movie than anything else. I suppose, in the end, that's what the story is really all about, but has anybody ever watched a version of The Hunchback for its romantic qualities? Probably not. Decent, but not enough to make any ten year old monster fan beg to see it.
